Helping you avoid the pitfalls of a "bad move" is our business. We believe in making the "tough job" of moving as easy and cost effective as possible, and we know just how to do that. We're prepared to help you at any level, from impartial minimal advice to practical assistance to full blown supervision to help you to NOT be the victim of fraud.
We will identify your needs, provide an organized and specific set of a nearly fifty page instructional document, divided into TEN major subjects so that no matter what type of move is in your future, you will have a roadmap, along with warnings and checklists to assure that you don't forget anything and you will avoid being taken advantage of by your selected mover. Our mantra is: analyze, identify, advise, execute. Our mission is to create a calm, satisfying moving experience, not transactions. Our promise is that we'll be there, as questions or issues arise, every step of the way.
As a retired engineer, and having been involved with a number of moves and movers and friends and relatives over the years who have had both good and disastrous moving experiences, I decided that a there is a serious need to design a systematic, precise set of procedures along with instructions and provide face-to-face assistance from beginning to end to help others avoid the potential problems that commonly are encountered in the process of moving your belongings safely, securely, and efficiently while avoiding the possibility of being taken advantage of by your moving company.
Our goal for those who we help is to minimize the grueling experience of moving to a new location. More times than not, I have heard over the years, and recently on many posts on the internet, and some personal involvement in an “unplanned moving experience”, and other horror stories of painful and expensive moves that have left the client feeling very frustrated, disappointed, and taken advantage of. We believe we can relieve a large percentage of the pains of the moving experience.
Assisted direction, with proper planning, a well-prepared contract, confirmation of responsibilities, insurance coverage validation, and a number of other factors that most folks don’t expect or realize can possibly happen, we will make life much easier to deal with the client’s choice of moving companies and the ultimate outcome of the experience. Folks who are planning to move fall into at least five different categories:
1. Those who will be packing all their own belongings and will be renting a truck and driving themselves, then do their own unpacking.
2. Those who will be packing all their own belongings and will hire a moving company to transport them to the new home, then do their own unpacking.
3. Those who will be packing some of their belongings and will hire a moving company to move heavier items such as sofas, beds, larger furniture, and/or even kitchen appliances and washers/driers.
4. Those who will hire a moving company to do all the packing and moving but will be doing the unpacking (with the exception of the larger items).
5. Those who wish to hire a moving company to do a turnkey job of packing everything, moving, and unpacking.
The Categories will define what plan of action and to what extent you will be needing our services. For instance, if you will be a Category 1, you may not need our services at all. You might find that your best plan in this case is to use a “PODS” Company or a rental truck/trailer. Using a PODS company could be your least expensive while at the same time, allowing more time to pack your belongings. As you move up in the Category classes, there is more of a need for assistance in planning and executing your move. Of the above categories, decide early which kind of client you will be. Be sure to have the agreement of your loved ones so that everyone is on the same page with regard to “how the move is to be executed”. This information will be used when you start to select a mover and getting contract pricing as outlined in our “Suggested Procedures”.
Before, during and after the move, we will assist in avoiding the pitfalls that many if not most clients have to experience just to continue a comfortable living.
Our experience in helping with moves can pay huge dividends not only in final costs, but in maintaining sanity for the clients!
We will meet with you and furnish ten more documents including a sample moving contract (and help you edit it to meet your needs) and a time scheduled check list in preparation for your move.
We will make drawings of your present home and future home and work with you to accurately note which items are to go where in your new home. In addition, we will be present on the day of the move to supervise packing by the moving company and also travel to your destination home to supervise and control the delivery of your belongings unless you chose to handle that phase yourself. If the moving company has proposed unpacking, we will remain to direct placing items in the locations as you direct, if you choose.
Without a firm, planned execution strategy the day of the move can easily turn into one of the worst experiences that a client may ever have to deal with, both cost wise and the lasting disappointments in “The way things went”.
We will also furnish a list and sources for the best pricing for the purchase of moving supplies for your move and assist in specifying quantities and sizes of boxes and packing materials if the moving company is not furnishing, or if you will be pre-packing items yourself.
Don’t fall into the trap of rushing your move, although some scheduling issues may be out of your control. Moving can be complicated.
Depending on your category you decide on, our rate of compensation will vary as appropriate to reflect the time and effort involved.
Upon your agreement, we will furnish the aforementioned documents/binder to begin the tasks of preparing for your new home!
